The RBO, a multi-year dismantling project consisting of 2 separate factory sites, was completed in November 2017 after 1.5 years of hard work. The 2 factory sites, PDA and Furfural 2, were part of an old lubricating oil factory with an 80-metre high chimney as the showpiece.
Outdated techniques and inefficient processes are reasons for our client to have Meuva dismantle the old lubricating oil factory. Plans are being developed in both areas to implement 'new' industrial processes.
Meuva started preparations for dismantling in 2017. Due to the size and complexity of the project, a breakdown has been made of dismantling phases.
Examples of special parts of the project:
- An 80-metre high chimney (link: disassembly chimney)
- Small and large columns of 220 tonnes each and a wall thickness of 10 cm with the presence of potentially combustible substances (link: disassembly columns)
- Fire hydrants
- Pump floors
- A pipeline bridge and an exchanger plot
- Torch barrels
- Various concrete structures
To give an idea of the quantities of the 'waste' that has come out of the project; see the 'data' section (top right).
